Overwatch Blue’s Play-off Run Comes to an End
An outstanding run by the Williamson Overwatch Blue team sadly came to an end last night, as the team lost a close fought battle to Murray State University, 3-2 and saw their season come to an end.
"It is never easy to lose, but our guys battled and we came close to pulling off a huge win. In the end, give Murray State credit. They did what they had to do to win," shared Williamson head coach Nick "Sauce" Mariani.
Despite the loss, the team had a great run and shocked more than a few people along the way.
"For a first-year program, we showed people what we are made of and that we intend to be a force on the national level for years to come."
All is not lost for Williamson though. While their Overwatch Blue tea is eliminated, the Williamson Overwatch Gold team is very much alive in their league. They take on the University of Cincinnati next Wednesday night at 9:00 P.M., with a berth at the 2024 NECC nationals on the line. The contest will be a rematch from earlier in the season where the Bearcats topped the Mechanics, 3-1.
"They are very good, but so are we. I don't know how it will turn out but I am confident in our guys. I do know one thing, we will come ready to play," close Mariani.
