Football Starts Strong Against Showtime Prep

MEDIA, Pa. – In a game marred by penalties, the Williamson College of the Trades football team started strong, but were upended by Showtime Prep, 26-13 on Saturday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Shawn Bedwell threw for a career-high 120 yards.
  • Nadir Ali had a career game with seven receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown.
  • Logan Peck led the defense with 10 tackles. Jayden Pierce came away with nine, including 1.5 tackles for less.
  • There were 27 penalties in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • WT got on the board first. After forcing a Showtime fumble on the opening kickoff, Ali hauled in two passes, the second one coming on a receiver option with Nathan Barnshaw delivering a perfect ball 22 yards downfield to paydirt.
  • Showtime Prep countered with a screen pass on the opening play of their first offensive possession, taking it 67 yards for a score.
  • Midway through the second quarter, the Mechanics struck again, starting the drive at the Showtime 35. Eight plays later, Williamson pulled a call out of the Eagles playbook, using the tush push as Bedwell ran it in from two yards out.
  • The second half was a different game as Showtime was able to methodically pull away.

UP NEXT

The Mechanics close their season on next Saturday, October 25 when they host CAPP Academy. Kickoff from Harvey Field is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
