Brandon Cairy (First team) and Zachary Bosak (Second team) were named to the 2023 USCAA Men's Division II Soccer All-American team

Brandon Cairy Named First Team Soccer All-American while Zachary Bosak Named Second Team All-American

When Brandon Cairy arrived on campus three years ago, Williamson head soccer coach Peter Glowa knew he had someone very special to.  That was confirmed as Cairy was named to the 2021 United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American squad as an honorable mention selection.

"I knew then that Brandon was very good, but I also knew he had the potential to become even better," shared Glowa.

Cairy then proved Glowa right during the 2022 season.  Despite Williamson having just a 3-6-1 record, Cairy was named a second team USCAA All-American, becoming the first two-time soccer All-American in school history.

It was during the 2023 season however, that Cairy showed the soccer world just how good he was and in doing so was recognized as a 2023 USCAA Division II first team All-American.  Joining him as part of this year's USCAA All-American squad was fellow senior Zachary Bosak, who was named a second team USCAA Men's Soccer Division II All-American.

Cairy's play in the midfield was dominant yet again, but even more so this year than in previous years.  While he could score, and did so, it was his ability to see the field, control play and set-others up that set him apart from almost anyone Williamson would face on the pitch.  He had 10 goals and seven assists but did so in just 11 games.  He averaged an astounding 2.45 points per game for the Mechanics.

If anyone needed a barometer as to how important his presence on the field was, when Cairy was forced to miss five games due to injury, Williamson went just 1-3-1.

"Brandon is as fine a player as I have seen on our level.  He has such a phenomenal soccer IQ and when you saw him out there, you just knew he was going to make a play for us.  We are really going to miss him," shared Glowa.

Cairy becomes just the second first team soccer All-American in Williamson history.  The other was all-time leading goals scorer Patrick Kiely 1W9

Bosak exploded onto the scene this year with seventeen goals to come within two goals of tying Williamson's all-time single season goal record of 19, held by 2019 graduate Patrick Kiely.  After missing most of his freshman year due to an injury, he came back strong last year but few people would have expected the results he put on the board this year.  In fact, he scored two goals the first game of the season and never looked back.  He would them top that in a three-goal effort in the third game of the year, his first of three hat tricks on the season!   He ended up with an astounding 40 points in 15 games, which agave him an average of 2.7 points per game!

"Zach was so quick and he used his speed to his advantage.  Some guys have a knack for scoring goals.  Zach has that times five," exclaimed Glowa.  "He could score from 25 yards out and did so on multiple occasions, but he also know his way around the front to the goal and how to score from there.

"His season was one for the ages and he too will be sorely missed," state Glowa.

The play by its two All-Americans was a big reason Williamson was able to finished at 8-7-1 on the season, its first winning season since 2016.

"These two have laid the groundwork for our future success. We need to keep it going, keep improving and make a run at a conference title and national play-off berth next year," closed Glowa
