Not So Fast-Overwatch Gold Comes Roaring Back to Take Down Hood College
Based on their outstanding results during the first semester, the Williamson Overwatch Gold team was bumped up into a much tougher division for the second semester. The competition has been much stronger, to the point the Mechanics actually lost a regular season match (something they did not do during the first semester) two week ago to the University of Cincinnati, 3-1.
On Thursday night, things were not looking good again for Williamson, as they were in danger of dropping yet another contest, this time to Hood College. Down 2-0, Williamson though responded in dramatic fashion, as they put together an improbable run to sweep the next three games and steal victory from the jaws of defeat.
"We are big on never giving up. We drill into our guys that it truly is never over until it is over. Or, as we like to say, it is never over until we say it is over," shared Williamson head coach Nick "Sauce" Mariani.
The win is huge for Williamson, as it keeps their play-off hopes alive. Though the competition has been much tougher this semester, according to Mariani, the Williamson players actually like it that way.
"Our guys want to be challenged. They want to get better and we are only going to do so by playing teams that are toucher and who will push us to do just that."
Williamson next takes on the HCC Hawks next Thursday night at 8:00 P.M.
