Williamson's Overwatch Gold Team Finishes Regular Season Undefeated
The Williamson College of the Trades Overwatch Gold team continued their torrid streak, as they defeated Eastern University's White team by a score of 3-0 on Thursday night. The win allows Williamson to close out the Fall regular season undefeated and has them now turning their attention to the NECC play-offs.
To say that Williamson's Overwatch Gold team has taken the esports world by storm might be a bit of an understatement. As a first-year program coming out of nowhere, the team has dominated each opponent so far, not dropping a single map in any of their contests. Thursday night's battle against Eastern was their toughest battel to date. Despite winning the match 3-0, each map went down the wire. Each time however, Williamson persevered, to remain undefeated at 5-0. They now await word on who their first play-off opponent will be and when that match will be played.
Williamson's Blue Overwatch team did not fare as well, as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the University of New Haven. Despite the loss, the team continues to improve.
"I'm really proud of each of our players on our Overwatch and Rocket League teams," shared Williamson head coach Dominic Mariani. "You can have a bunch of great players, but that doesn't make a great team. Our guys are obviously skilled, but they are playing well as a team, which is why they are winning like they have been.
"It isn't the best individuals who win, rather it is the best team who wins," closed the triumphant first-year coach.
