On a night where they were underdogs, having lost twice already to Bucks County Community College, Williamson would need its senior to somehow will them to win if they had any chance in claiming victory over the Centurions. Will the team they did, as seniors Semaj Chery and Rob Wiley came up big when the team needed them the most in a 68-64 season ending win before a raucous crowd at the Restall Sports Center Tuesday night.
The game was a game of streaks throughout the contest. Williamson was down 11-6 early in the first half before going and 18-5 run to go up 24-16 halfway through the first stanza. Bucks then went on 10-2 run to tie things up only to see Williamson go on 12-3 run to close up the half for a 38-29 lead at the break.
Anyone who knows anything about Bucks knew that they were not about to go quietly. Sure enough, they came out on fire and hit three straight three-point buckets in the opening 1:10 of the second half to evaporate their nine-point halftime disadvantage and tie things up at 38-38 at the 18:50 mark.
Williamson though regained its composure and was actually able to regain a nine-point advantage at the 13:14 mark at 52-43. Bucks though continued to slowly chip away and eventually got to within four points at 62-58 with 3:46 left.
The teams continued to trade misses and turnovers until senior Rob Wiley hit a clutch three-point basket with 1:31 left to put Williamson back up by eight at 66-58. While there were some tense moments in that final 1:31, Williamson was able to hang on for the win, and close out the season with an impressive 15 wins, going 15-12 on the year.
Playing in the final game of his Williamson career, Semaj Chery led the way for Williamson with 18 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots. Fellow senior Rob Wiley added 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Ronald Johnson added 14 points six rebounds and four assists. Jordan Draine also hit double figures with 10 points.
On commenting on the seniors, (Wiley Chery and Ahmad Garvin) Williamson head coach Bill Michaels shared with the crowd at halftime just how proud he was of them.
"These three guys are guys who have grown, not just as basketball players but more importantly as Williamson men who are seeking to live out the five Williamson core values each day (Faith Integrity, Diligence, Excellence and Service). We could not be prouder of them."
