On an afternoon when he was honored for scoring his 1,000th career point at Williamson, it only seemed fitting that Williamson would have to rely on senior Robert Wiley to lead a furious second half comeback in the team's 65-60 win over Patrick Henry College.
Rely on Wiley they did, as Williamson who found themselves down by nine points at the break, needed offensive punch in the second half and he did not let them down. He scored 16 of his game high 24 points in the second half, including five three-pointers, as Williamson outscored their opponents by 24 points, holding them to just 15 in the second half.
Down 35-26 at the break, Williamson's defense needed to step things up and they did that and then some, as they forced a whopping 21 turnovers in the second half alone, to go with 16 steals.
After trailing for all but eight seconds in the first half, the Mechanics took their first of the second half at the 10:44 mark at 41-40. It was a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game, as they held the visitors to just 15 points for the entire second half.
Not only did Robert Wiley join the 1,000 point club, becoming the 13th member in the Restall Sports Center era to accomplish such, he also led the team in scoring with 24 points and added six rebounds, two assists and two steals to that total. Ronald Johnson added 21 points, six steals, five rebounds and two assists on the afternoon.
Williamson moves to 13-9 on the year. The have back-to-back long road trips this week, first taking on Central Penn College on Tuesday and then Harrisburg Area Community College on Thursday evening, before returning home for a 7:00 P.M. Friday night game against Crown College
