Williamson placed all five starters in double-figures, as they closed out the first semester of their 2024-25 season on a winning note, taking down visiting Rowan College of South Jersey-Cumberland, 74-60. With the win, Williamson moves to 10-6 and already has two more wins in the first semester than all of last year in both semesters. Still, head coach Bill Michaels says his team has plenty of room for improvement.
"We will take a little time off but how hard our guys commit to working hard and practicing over the break will go a long way towards determining if we can make a run at a conference championship or have a shot at nationals."
Things started slowly for Williamson on Tuesday night as they scored just five points in the first seven minutes. They trailed 10-5 seven minutes in before going on a 25-11 run to close out the half up 30-21.
Williamson would increase that lead to as much as 21, but a feisty Dukes team clawing away before Williamson was able to close things out with the 14-point win.
A'Jaad White led the team with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He also added four steals and two assists. Liam Rardin matched him with 15 points and also had 10 rebounds. He also added three blocks. Rob Wiley (14), Ronald Jonson (13) and Semaj Chery (10) also reached double-figures for Williamson.
Williamson now has a well-deserved break before they hit the ground running against nationally ranked Albany College of Pharmacy on Friday afternoon, January 9 in a 4:00 P.M. start.
