White’s Shot with No Time Left Stuns USCAA Division I Bryant and Stratton – Rochester
After having lost by a single point with a chance to win it at the end Friday night to host Rowan College at Gloucester County, the Williamson basketball team turned the tables on Saturday afternoon, as they upset USCAA Division I Bryant and Stratton – Rochester on a shot with no time remaining to claim third place in the 2024 Roadrunner Classic with a dramatic 92-90 overtime win.
Williamson trailed for most of the game Bobcats. They were down by seven at half before mounting a comeback to take their first lead with just under 10 minutes to play. The Mechanics would find themselves down by three with two minutes to play in regulation before going on a run that would see them up by five with under a minute to play. Bryant and Stratton would then eventually tie things up with 22 seconds left. Williamson would get one final shot, but it was off the mark to send the game into overtime.
Williamson would once again have a lead late, as they were up by three with under 30 seconds to play before their opponent hit a desperation three-pointer to tie things at 90 with 18 seconds left to play. Williamson once again played for the final shot. Rob Wiley made a move and got an off balance shot off that was wide of the mark but landed right into the hands of freshman A'Jaad White, who quickly laid it in as the buzzer sounded to give Williamson a 92-90 upset overtime win.
"I'm proud of our guys. We let one get away Friday night but they bounced back and gutted it out at the end. This was a nice response by our guys," shared Hall of Fame Williamson head coach Bill Michaels.
Semaj Chery was hug in the win, as he had 26 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks. Rob Wiley added 23 points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals. Ronald Johnson added 19 points and seven rebounds, while Liam Rardin added 12 and White also hit for double figures with 10 and 16 rebounds.
On Friday night, Wiley led the team with 17 points, followed by Johnson with 14 and Chery with 13.
The win moves Williamson to 9-4 on the year. They travel to Bucks County Community College for an ESAC contest on Tuesday night at 7:00 P.M.
