Mechanics Fall to National Power Penn State Lehigh Valley

For a half, the Williamson soccer team gave national power Penn State Lehigh Valley all they could handle.  There are two halves to a game however, and the visiting Lions used the second half of Tuesday night's game to pull away for a 5-1 triumph and show why they are one of the top USCAA Division II programs in the nation.

The teams were evenly matched throughout the first half, with both squads having quality scoring chances.  The Lions would break through at the 34:23 mark to go up 1-0.

In last week's win over Harrisburg, Williamson used a big start to the second half to come away with the victory. Tonight, the tables were turned, as PSU Lehigh Valley scored a quick goal to start the second half, just five minutes into the half.  Williamson countered with a goal from Gio Karasavas to pull to within 2-1.  Good teams know how to strike right back and just 1:47 after Williamson's goal, the Lions countered to go up 3-1.  They would add two more goals to close out a 5-1 triumph.

The Mechanics, who drop to 1-1 on the year, have a short time to regroup before hosting Lehigh Carbon Community College, a team they lost to 3-2 last year, in a 6:30 P.M. start on Thursday night.
