It is never good when you start slowly against a nationally ranked opponent. It is even worse when you give that ranked opponent an early advantage by accidently scoring on your own team. Sadly for Williamson, that is exactly what happened on Friday, as they started slow and were never able to recover in an 8-1 road loss to Central Penn College.
Not long into the game, Williamson found themselves in a 1-0 hole as they accidently scored an "own" goal. Twenty minutes later they found themselves down 2-0 and then let up a momentum hurting late goal to find themselves down 3-0 at the half.
The Mechanics tried to get back into it, as they scored just two and half minutes into the second half. Rob Wagner got the goal off an assist by Zachary Bosak but the Knights came right back to score less than four minutes later and it was the beginning of the end for Williamson. Williamson cleared the bench and Central Penn used a late game barrage to make the score much worse in the 8-1 dousing.
The Mechanics drop to 4-2 on the year and 1-1 in ESAC play. The will have to rebound quickly, as they travel to Bucks County Community College for a 3:30 P.M. ESAC start.
