The opening game of their doubleheader at Christendom College was one Williamson would soon like to forget, as the Mechanics blew a four run seventh inning lead to lose 10-9 to the hosts. But forget it they did, as after once again blowing a seventh inning lead, they rallied to win the nightcap 3-2 in extra innings to gain the split.
It looked like the Mechanics had the opener sealed, as they led 9-5 in the bottom of the seventh before the roof caved in. Cody Grande and Josh Illing both went 2-3 with RBI's to lead Williamson.
In the second game, Williamson managed just four hits but made them count. Ramone Sanchez homered early on and Williamson starter Daniel Gross pitched a gem, as he carried a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh. He was one strike away from gaining the shutout win before letting up a game tying two-run single to the hosts.
Undaunted, Williamson rallied in the top of the eight, as Jacob Naumann singled home Cole Locklear with the go-ahead RBI to put Williamson up 3-2. Phil Martini let up two hits in the bottom of the eighth, also but struck out two to get the clutch win for Williamson.
Williamson moves to 13-7 on the year. They next ravel to league leading Central Penn College for a doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game beginning at 4:00 P.M.
