Mechanics Sweep Pair from Manor College
After having played just two games in just under two weeks, the Williamson baseball team started slowly on Sunday in both games against Manor College on Sunday before coming on strong late in both to come away with a 21-5 and 19-4 sweep of the Blue Jays.
Leading just 8-3 after five innings in the opener, Williamson erupted for 13 runs in the top of the sixth inning to put the game away. Joe Kelly had a big game, as he went 2-2 with two home runs, three walks, four RBI and five runs scored. Steve Gualtieri and Shane McLaughlin both were solid on the mound for the Mechanics.
In the nightcap, it was a similar scenario, as Williamson led just 4-2 after four innings before breaking things open again late in the 19-4 triumph. Cody Grande blasted a home run, while Kyle Marshall, Ivan Bienkowski and Aiden McHugh combined to limit the Blue Jays to just four runs in the game.
The wins move Williamson to 8-3 on the year. Things get much tougher for Williamson, as next up is ESAC rival Bucks County Community College in a 1:00 P.M. home doubleheader on Wednesday, April 10.
