Lacrosse Dominates in Win
It has been said that how a team responds after a big-game loss says a lot about them. If that is the case then the Williamson lacrosse team will be just fine, as the dominated host Del Tech on Wednesday night in coming away with a big 18-8 win.
Freshman Chase Staley had a huge game for the Mechanics, as he scored six goals on the night. Rob Wagner also had a big night with four goals and four assists, while Matt Dickinson added two goals and five assists on the night.
While the game was close early on, it did not stay that way, as Williamson use a huge second period, outscoring the hosts 10-0, to take a commanding 12-2 halftime lead. They led 16-4 at the end of the third period, before closing things out in the fourth quarter. Jack Welsh stopped, 22 shots in net, and fellow goalie C.J. McCue stopped six.
"We responded well. It isn't about the fact that you get knocked down (loss to #2 West Chester), it is all about how you respond after you get knocked down. Our guys responded in a big way tonight and we are very proud of them and their effort," shared legendary Williamson coach Jim DeRose.
Williamson is off for a week now until Sunday, March 9 when they travel to take on host Sussex County College in a 12:00 P.M.
