Historic Win for Williamson Soccer

Historic Win for Williamson Soccer

Last year's soccer games against Bucks County Community College did not go well for Williamson.  In fact, none of Williamson's previous soccer games against Bucks had gone well, as the Mechanics had never beaten the Centurions. Last year's games were ones Williamson wanted to forget, as they lost 6-0 and 9-1 to Bucks.  The exact opposite is true however of tonight's game, as Williamson played a game they will want to remember forever, as they upset Bucks 5-2 and gained their first ever win over their opponent.

Also lost in the euphoria of the win was the fact that not only was the win their first ever win over Bucks, it also was the school's first conference win in the Eastern States Athletic Conference, a league that was formed two years ago.

"Our guys deserve all the credit in the world.  They played their hearts out.  We knew we could do it but we also knew we would have to play the full ninety minutes and limit our breakdowns.  The guys did just that and you saw the results tonight," shared an exuberant Williamson head coach Peter Glowa.

"I could not be prouder of our guys!"

The win did not come easy for Williamson.  They did jump out to an early 1-0 lead on a goal at the 24:10 mark from Brandon Cairy off an assist from Zachary Bosak.  Bucks however, answered right back on a nice goal by Dylan Herbert off a feed from Aiden Perry to tie it a 1-1.

Things remained that way until the 9:13 make when Bosak hit a penalty kick to give Williamson a 2-1 lead heading into the half.

Good teams come out fired up after the break, and Bucks did just that, needing less than four minutes to tie things at 2-2 on an unassisted goal by Ernest Dobson.

Another hallmark of good teams is how the respond when someone comes at them fired up.  Williamson didn't back down and they only needed 2:41 themselves to grab the lead right back, this time on another goal by Bosak, off an assist by Cairy, at the 38:41 mark to make it 3-2.

Bucks continued to apply the pressure but the Williamson defense stepped things up in a big way and kept them off the board.  Dylan Burke and Dan Maroney played exceptionally well on defense for the Mechanics tonight.  Williamson then went up 4-2 at the 20:31 mark off Brandon Cairy's second goal, off an assist by Dylan Beaver.

The teams continued to battle, with both having quality opportunities.  It was then, at the 5:28 mark on Bosak's third goal of the game, that Williamson fans could breath a huge sigh of relief, as he rounded out the scoring in the 5-2 win.

The hat trick by Bosak was his second straight hat trick.

Williamson moves to 3-1 on the year and 1-0 in ESAC play.  They next travel to Patrick Henry College this Saturday to take on a very dangerous Diplomat squad in a 12:00 P.M. battle.  For now though, the team will savor tonight's thrilling win.

"We still have a lot of soccer to play and we will see Bucks again.  We will enjoy this but as special as this win is, we have bigger things we are hoping to achieve," closed Glowa.

And as Williamson soccer fans have learned so far-don't bet against this team's ability to achieve those goals!
