DESPITE STRONG FIGHT, WILLIAMSON MECHANICS CAN'T TOP CHRISTENDOM COLLEGE

Despite a 9-run deficit in the fifth inning, Williamson Mechanics almost came all the way back, eventually falling 9-7 to Christendom College on Saturday. Williamson Mechanics scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Cody Grande (FR/Brookhaven, PA), a home run by Joshua Illing (FR/Springfield, PA), a double by Patrick Jones (FR/Havertown, PA), a double by Kyle Marshall (JR/Springfield, PA), a error, and a double by Stephen Gualtieri (JR/Aston, PA).

Despite the loss, Williamson Mechanics did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Christendom College had six hits on the way to victory.

Williamson put up seven runs in the sixth inning. Grande, Illing, Jones, Marshall, Samuel Coppa (FR/Berwyn, PA), and Gualtieri each drove in runs during the inning.

Christendom College scored five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower by Christendom College was led by T. Sullivan, Reese, Corcoran, Blank, and Oakley, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Sullivan was credited with the victory for Christendom College. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Skoba and Roman entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Gualtieri went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Williamson Mechanics in hits.
