Big Day for Baseball

The Williamson baseball team heads to Virginia for a key doubleheader against Christendom College today, in hopes of keeping their Eastern States Athletic Conference play-off chances alive.

In order to secure a play-off spot, the Mechanics will have to sweep the host Crusaders.  Williamson unfortunately missed a golden opportunity to put themselves in a position to only need a split today, when they dropped a 13-4 decision road decision to Bucks County , their third conference loss in a row.

Gaining a doubleheader sweep will not be easy for Williamson.   The teams split a doubleheader two weeks ago at Williamson, with Williamson needing a game winning home run by Josh Illing in the bottom of the seventh to win game two, 10-8, after dropping the opening game, 20-12.

The two teams in the conference play each other in a one-game championship contest at a date and time to be determined.  Central Penn, the defending ESAC champions, has already secure the top spot for that play-off game.
